THE VIRTUOUS FALL OF THE GIRLS FROM OUR LADY OF SORROWS, is an exploration of teenage revolution in the face of petty authoritarianism. Set in a Catholic girls’ school, the play recounts the ripple effects caused by one student's decision to produce M4M2, a controversial sequel to MEASURE FOR MEASURE.

Press
BlogCritics "...this solid cast shepherded skillfully by director Blayze Teicher makes them come alive so thoroughly that we root for them without reserve."
Theater That Matters "I was left, for the first time in a long time, with a joyous sense that the revolution is upon us in the form of young women."
Thinking Theatre NYC: "The production also manages to make moments like one character’s first use of a tampon—an initiation into a different kind of mystery than those of the Church—play as joyful celebration."
The Challenge
Lead creative process, from development through production, for world premiere of an original Gina Femia play, commissioned by Spicy Witch Productions to play in rep with Shakespeare's MEASURE FOR MEASURE.
The Insight
Shakespearian themes persist in youth culture: lust, loss, and rebellion.
The Directorial Concept
This production explored the tension between the repressed school environment and the characters' more vibrant inner-worlds, shifting between childhood and maturity. Our design featured florals, floating and falling amongst these young women as they questioned everything they'd been taught - the perfect blank canvas to start painting the full picture for themselves.
