The Challenge
Translate a book musical to intimate cabaret stage, implementing additions to the score after 2 years of development.
The Insight
It’s natural to want to talk to loved ones we’ve lost - a need for peace that can push us to believe in impossibilities.
The Directorial Concept
This staging lived in a liminal space between memory and reality, to best serve a final conversation between three old friends. With actors Kimiko Glenn (Orange is the New Black), Gerard Canonico (Be More Chill), and Corey Mach (& Juliet), I focused on building intimacy and a shared emotional history, allowing overlooked friendships to emerge in a new light. Our concert was anchored by the belief that the only true unfinished business we leave behind is love.
